What to Expect

We aim to make your visits as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. On arrival at the practice, you will be welcomed by a member of the reception team who will ask you to fill out a form which includes information about your medical history and personal details. If you have any problems or questions about the form, please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance. At your first appointment, it would be helpful if you could bring a list of any medications you are taking or have taken in the past.

While you wait for your appointment, we encourage you to relax in our calming and comfortable waiting area. This area has been designed to provide patients with a relaxing oasis.

Your dentist will greet you and take you to the consultation room for a brief, informal chat about your dental history and personal details. We believe it is important that all patients are able to make well-informed decisions about their dental treatment – which is why we provide our clients with thorough, clear explanations of treatments. If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss them with our dental team.

Your dentist will then examine your mouth:

  • Examination of the individual teeth to check for warning signs of tooth decay, gum disease or damage.
  • Screening check for mouth cancer; this includes an examination of the hard and soft tissues in the mouth to check for abnormalities or symptoms associated with oral cancer.
  • X-rays, if required.
  • A discussion of the findings of the examination and treatment recommendations where applicable. If you do require treatment your dentist will explain the options available and use diagnostic tests to determine the best possible pathway.
  • A written treatment plan and a cost estimate will be provided for the patient, after which they will be advised to schedule a return appointment with one of our receptionists.

In some cases, when complex treatment is required, it becomes necessary to make another appointment before treatment starts. This is to give your dentist time to discuss the findings of the examination and provide additional information about the available treatment options.
